The California Work and Family Coalition is a diverse coalition of advocates, community groups and labor unions that promotes family-friendly workplace policies for California's working families through policy work and grassroots activism. The Coalition supports policies that help California workers preserve their jobs and fulfill their caregiving responsibilities. The Coalition was founded and is coordinated by the Labor Project for Working Families.

With the California Labor Federation and Alliance of Californians for Community Empowerment (ACCE), the Coalition has led a campaign to guarantee all California workers the right to earn paid sick days since 2008.  The Coalition is promoting and building support for the issue and will reintroduce a paid sick days bill in the 2011-2012 legislative session.

The Coalition is also leading a campaign to protect the financial health of the California Paid Family Leave program and advocate for adequate resources for program outreach and implementation.  Looking forward to the 2011-2012 legislative session, the Coalition has convened a workgroup with the Berkeley Center for Health, Economic and Family Security (CHEFS) at UC Berkeley Law School to identify the key problems with California’s family leave laws and develop a comprehensive agenda for reform.
